Mizumatsuri

We offer prayers to the ancestors with floating lanterns
The Mizumatsuri is said to be a festival that offers water to the spirits of ancestors to comfort their suffering in death and expresses the joy of the souls that have been saved through Bon Odori. Floating lanterns are released on the Kamogoe irrigation canal (Nishigawa) that flows through the city, creating a fantastical world with a band of light.
