The beautiful blooming hydrangeas are cherished as a symbol of the rainy season leading into early summer, and some varieties change color, leading to them being referred to as 'shichihenka' (seven changes). In the 'Ajisai no Mori' on the west side of the Natural Culture Garden, around 50 varieties of Gaku Ajisai and Seiyou Ajisai, including new varieties, bloom magnificently this year. Although the plants have become smaller due to the renewal of 'Ajisai no Mori', you can enjoy their youthful and fresh appearance. ■Notes We are also accepting haiku submissions about hydrangeas from June 7 to 15.
