The "Shiojiri Genba Matsuri", which can be said to be a summer tradition of Shiojiri City, is inspired by the legend of "Genba no Jo", featuring a fox motif, and has been widely loved and handed down by the citizens, reaching its 50th year this year. It aims to be a festival that allows participants to create themselves (originality and creativity) - a "self-participatory festival" that embodies the essence of the celebration. Unique groups parade through the Daimon shopping street, which becomes a pedestrian paradise, showcasing the "Shiojiri Genba Dance". The festival is held in two parts: Part 1 "Costume Event" and Part 2 "Shiojiri Genba Dance".
