Ose Festival

The annual festival of Ose Shrine announces the arrival of spring in Suruga Bay
The annual festival of Ose Shrine, which gathers the faith of fishermen in Suruga Bay. Many decorative dance boats with young men dressed as women gather at Ose, decorated with large catch flags from various regions such as Shiuura, Uchiura, and Nishiura. The young men in women's clothing dance the 'Isami Odori' to the 'Chanchara Okashi' music, earning the title 'Famous Festival of the World'. When the boats arrive at the quay, they throw bales into the sea, and the young men who swim to retrieve them pray at the shrine for a good catch and safe voyages.
