The season of crimson maple leaves is here!
During the Edo period, the Ito family rose from farming to become the largest landowners in Echigo. The Northern Culture Museum, a grand farmhouse that conveys the lifestyle of the Ito family over eight generations, is a must-visit. In November, the garden is adorned with vibrant autumn leaves, resembling a mountainside draped in colorful brocade, and the views from the spacious 100-tatami mat great hall of the strolling garden are a sight to behold. Mid-November, when the leaves are at their best, the opening hours will be extended, and the garden will be illuminated, allowing visitors to enjoy the atmospheric mansion in a different light compared to the daytime.
