Daishoji, located on Sugidake Mountain in Kitakata Town, was founded by the monk Gyoki in 709. It houses Fudo Myo-o and the two attendants. From June to July, about 5,000 hydrangeas bloom throughout the grounds, earning it the nickname 'Hydrangea Temple.' During this season, the mountains are often shrouded in mist, creating a fantastical view of the vividly colored flowers emerging from the haze.
