Post-War 80th Anniversary Project: Clothing Speaks of War

It has been 80 years since the end of World War II. The changes in daily life over approximately 50 years from the late Meiji era during the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese Wars to the end of the war in Showa 20 greatly changed people's consciousness about clothing and their clothing lives. Kimonos made with hopes of victory, 'monpe' and national uniforms worn during times of material shortages, dresses and fashion magazines from Europe and America during the same period, and ethnic costumes from various parts of Asia collected by the Clothing Association for research will be displayed, exploring the impact of war on clothing and people's lives. ■ Notes For the latest information, refer to the official website of the Bunka Gakuen Costume Museum.

Closed on Sundays, public holidays, and during the summer vacation period (August 8-17). Open on Saturdays from 10:00 to 15:00. Open until 16:30 on July 27 (Sunday) and until 15:00 on August 24 (Sunday). Open until 19:00 on July 18 (Friday) and September 12 (Friday). Open until 16:30 on July 26 (Saturday), August 23 (Saturday), and September 13 (Saturday). Entry is allowed until 30 minutes before closing.
