Sagamino Great Kite Festival

One of the traditional events of Sagamihara City.
This is one of the traditional events of Sagamihara City, passed down since the Tenpo era (around 1830). It is preserved by the "Sagamino Great Kite Preservation Society" in the Shin Iso area (Shindo, Kamiirobe, Shimoirobe, Katsuzaka). Among them, the Shindo Hachiken kite, measuring 14.5 meters square and weighing 950 kg, boasts the largest size in Japan for kites that are flown each year. The sight of the gigantic kite floating in the sky is truly magnificent. Additionally, each year, a title chosen by public application is written, and this year's title is "Kishō."
