Gion Kashiwazaki Festival: Great Fireworks Festival by the Sea

Gorgeous fireworks that fill the sky

Minato-machi Seaside Park, Central Coast Area

7/26(Sat) 19:30~21:10

The Great Fireworks Festival by the Sea in Kashiwazaki is held against the backdrop of the Japan Sea. Its greatest attraction is the unparalleled range of fireworks launched. It is said to have begun when Kashiwazaki's Yasaka Shrine, which has its roots in Kyoto's Yasaka Shrine, launched fireworks during the festival in the late Edo period. Approximately 16,000 fireworks, including wide star mines launched from a 600m embankment, underwater sky star mines shot towards the sea, and a simultaneous launch of 100 powerful shaku-dama (large fireworks) named 'Kashiwazaki Citizens' will brighten the summer of Kashiwazaki.
