72nd Abe River Fireworks Festival

Flowers of light bloom in the night sky
A grand fireworks festival where about 15,000 fireworks dye the surface of the Abe River in seven colors. With large star mines and both quality and quantity that satisfy viewers, this festival is one of the most popular in Shizuoka Prefecture. Night stalls line the streets, preserving an old-fashioned charm, which is also one of its attractions. The Abe River Fireworks Festival, which began in 1953 with prayers for the souls of the war dead and for recovery, celebrates its 72nd edition this year.
