31st Yanagawa Hina Matsuri Sagemon Meguri

In Yanagawa, there is a custom of sending 'sagemon' decorations for a child's first Hina Matsuri. It is said to have started in the late Edo period, where grandmothers, mothers, relatives, and friends would create various auspicious items using leftover fabric from kimonos and futons, wishing for the baby girl to grow up healthy, strong, and happy throughout her life. This festival began to allow everyone to see the 'sagemon' widely. Various events are planned in different parts of the city during the period.
