Ratekawa Shrine Saegusa Festival

A festival said to quell epidemics, also known as the "Lily Festival"
The Saegusa Festival, also known as the Lily Festival, is the annual festival of Ratekawa Shrine. The deity, "Himetataraisuzuhimenokami," is said to have lived at the foot of Mount Miwa, where the lily flowers bloom. To please the goddess, it is said that people began to decorate sake barrels with lily flowers for the festival. At the ceremony on the 17th, four shrine maidens will perform the Kagura dance "Umazake Miwa no Mai" elegantly with the Saegusa lilies in hand. In the afternoon, after the safety prayer ceremony for the Seven Maidens, Lily Princess, and Child Procession, there will be a procession through the city lasting about two hours.
