Nachinoseki Festival

One of Japan's Three Great Fire Festivals: 'Nachinoseki Festival'
'Nachinoseki Festival', counted as one of Japan's Three Great Fire Festivals, is the annual festival of Kumano Nachi Taisha. Twelve deities of Kumano are transferred to twelve 6-meter tall fan-shaped portable shrines representing the sacred waterfall, and they proceed from the main shrine to the waterfall. They are welcomed at the approach to the waterfall by twelve large torches weighing between 5kg and 60kg, and the ceremony cleanses with their flames. Experience the powerful and spectacular fire festival up close!
