Yuge Fire Festival
The fire festival that scorches the night sky
Kohiyoshi Shrine, which is said to have been a territory of the Sakamoto Hiyoshi Shrine during the manor era, enshrines the spirit of Oyamatsumi. Every year on May 1st, the regular fire festival is held. Local residents parade through the town while ringing bells and beating drums. Upon arriving at the shrine, fireworks and display fireworks are launched simultaneously, and afterwards, a giant round torch and a triangular torch (which has a very rare shape with a triangular pyramid top) are lit, bringing the festival to its climax.
