An easy-to-understand introduction to the various and complex types of patterns on Jomon pottery, the methods of depiction, and points of interest. Jomon pottery features diverse and intricate patterns, with many being astonished by the high level of shaping techniques. Even if the tools for creating patterns are the same, different lines and patterns emerge depending on how they are used. Following these, the motions of the creators become apparent. Even for those unfamiliar with archaeology, we convey the charm of the shaping techniques possessed by people of the Jomon period and introduce points to observe the pottery. Related events such as lectures and exhibitions will also be held.
