A place where you can feel the steps of reconstruction

Hiyashido Road, Kumano River Town

Early Sep~Mid-Sep

To keep the memory of the Kii Peninsula flood disaster (2011) alive and to express the wish for reconstruction, the "Reconstruction Sunflowers" are being cultivated by local residents in Shingu City. They typically reach full bloom from early to mid-September each year. The fields of fully bloomed sunflowers seem like a strong cheer for reconstruction, lighting up the hearts of the visitors.
