Otabimatsuri

A festival representing the town of Kabuki, Komatsu
The 'Otabimatsuri' is held as a spring festival at the Tohashi Shrine and the Honori Hiyoshi Shrine in Komatsu City. The name 'Otabimatsuri' comes from the idea of the portable shrine, or mikoshi, traveling around the town. Currently, eight towns own the decorative floats: Kyomachi, Nakamachi, Zaimokucho, Nishimachi, Ryuusukecho, Youkaichimachi, Daimonjimachi, and Teramachi. During the festival, 'Kodomo Kabuki' is performed on two of the floats owned by the town in charge that year. The splendid and extravagant floats, along with the enthusiastic performances by the children, are worth seeing.
